Romance on the Boston Harbor: A Waterfront Wedding
As someone who once called Boston Massachusetts home, I felt the warm, familiar charm of the city during my drive to Gabrielle & Nicolas’ celebration. I was honored to help document this couple’s story, starting with the bride and groom getting ready in charming waterfront hotel rooms. Every detail was carefully thought out, from the elegant floral arrangements to the decor that perfectly complemented the harbor views. Working as a second shooter allowed me to capture those often-overlooked moments—the look exchanged between family members, the quiet anticipation before the ceremony, and the joy on the guests' faces as they watched the couple say "I do."
The Hyatt Regency Boston Harbor features a number of rooms with stunning views of the harbor which we took full advantage of. Full floor-to-ceiling windows provided the perfect backdrop for family and wedding party photos. We also took full advantage of a grand lobby staircase for an unforgettable first look between the bride and groom.
The ceremony itself was magical, held in a sundrenched room with the most perfect sunset harbor views. With golden light filling the room, each shot captured the warmth and emotion of the moment. While the ceremony was unfortunately forced to move inside due to wind, this location still provided an intimate, almost cinematic atmosphere for the newlyweds and their loved ones, with every frame telling a part of their story.
One of the most memorable highlights of the day was the father’s vintage Mercedes SL convertible, which added a classic, elegant touch to the wedding photos. This beautiful car became an unexpected centerpiece, lending a sense of sophistication to the shoot. We took advantage of every gleaming chrome detail to capture some of the most striking images of the day. With the top down, and the bride’s veil catching the wind, this added a playful and romantic energy to the scene. Later, we shot the couple and the wedding party around the car, with the Boston skyline in the distance. It was a perfect blend of urban charm and classic style, making for an unforgettable series of shots that highlighted the couple’s love story.
The portrait shoot was then capped off with more portraits drinking Champagne and enjoying a water cannon salute carried out by the Boston Fire Department's Marine Unit. A brilliant way to usher in the rest of their celebration for the evening.
Moments like these make each wedding unique, and I was thrilled to capture so many significant details for these two on their special day.
Shooting on location in Boston was a wonderful change of pace from Los Angeles and an incredible start to my time visiting New England, It was a great chance to work in a historic city with a distinctly different ambiance that I had missed so much. Every element of the day was truly special, and I’m grateful to have been a part of it.
