Fusion of Traditions: A Two-Day Catholic and Indian Wedding Celebration
Before moving to Los Angeles, this wedding was undoubtedly one of the most incredible of my career. It was a two-day celebration that I’ll never forget. I was introduced to this wonderful couple through my cousin, who is now married to the bride’s brother—making them my cousins-in-law. I also had the honor of collaborating with the bride’s parents to help bring this extraordinary event to life. Taking on this wedding solo was no small feat, but I couldn’t be more thrilled with how the photos turned out, especially so early in my career. I’m excited to share the story behind this unforgettable celebration!
Day one started with photographing the bride and groom preparing for their traditional church wedding ceremony in Norwalk, Connecticut. The air was filled with excitement and a touch of nervous energy as both the bride and groom were surrounded by their closest family and friends. I was able to capture those intimate moments—laughter, shared memories, and those last-minute details that often go unnoticed but are so important. The bride's delicate and fluffy gown shimmered against the matching pinks of the bridesmaids’ dresses, while champagne bottles popped and banners lined the hotel room walls. I actually had a connection with the bride through a personal family member who was in the wedding party, so I had no problem getting comfortable around everyone with my camera and capturing some of the most incredible candid moments. The energy of both the bride and groom was radiating during these early moments of the day, making for some of my favorite shots of the weekend.
The day moved quickly to the church, where family gathered and waited eagerly for the guests of honor. The First Congregational Church in Norwalk served as a beautiful, classic backdrop for the ceremony. As the guests began to fill the pews, I made sure to get a few wide shots of the space before the ceremony began. The light pouring in from the stained glass windows created the perfect atmosphere for such an emotional and sacred moment. The ceremony was filled with meaningful vows, heartfelt readings and musical performances, and a touch of humor that had everyone in attendance wiping away tears of joy.
The couple then shared a quick, intimate moment inside the church, and then we all walked across the street to the Norwalk Town Green for family and wedding party portraits. This was one of those rare moments when time seemed to slow down, and I was able to take my time and capture their pure happiness and the love that radiated between them and their friends and family.
After this came a dinner reception filled with vibrant cultural traditions, including colorful dances, henna tattoos, and a rich blend of music and food that truly reflected the couple's heritage. The atmosphere was full of energy as guests celebrated with joy, bringing the couple's love story to life through cherished customs, delicious meals, and festive moments. All this was in preparation for day two of their celebration. Lucky for me, my cousin, who was a part of the wedding party, lived close by, so I was able to quickly rest up and get ready without a long drive home.

Day two began, and it was time to capture more candid moments as the bride and groom got ready. The bride slipped into her beautiful lehenga choli, its intricate embroidery sparkling as she had her maang tikka placed on her forehead and put on her bangles. Meanwhile, the groom dressed in his sharp sherwani, with his sehra carefully arranged on his head. The excitement was in the air as the bride's dupatta was draped just right, and the groom’s kurta was adjusted to perfection. Every detail, from the bride's nath to the final touches on the groom's outfit, was captured as they prepared for the big day ahead.
As the groom’s Baraat began, the excitement was palpable in the parking lot of Water’s Edge at Giovanni’s. Arriving in a stunning vintage blue Cadillac convertible, he was greeted by the cheers of family and friends. The car, adorned with vibrant orange flowers, stood out against the backdrop of the venue, adding a unique touch to the traditional procession. The energy was contagious, marking the perfect start to the wedding day as the bride’s family awaited his arrival with open arms.
After this, we dove straight into one of the most beautiful wedding ceremonies I have ever seen. This was my first time at an Indian wedding, and I was blown away by the vibrancy, the rich traditions, and the sheer energy of the entire event. From the intricate rituals to the stunning mandap adorned with flowers, the ceremony was a feast for the eyes and my camera lens. The sound of mantras, the symbolic gestures, and the warmth of the couple’s love made it clear that this was a celebration steeped in centuries of tradition. It was incredible. This was then followed by a quick ride to Weed Beach Pavilions after the ceremony for some intimate portraits with the bride and groom and some waterfront group photos
Once we returned the vibe shifted from a calm and meaningful ceremony to a full-on celebration. The newlyweds made their grand entrance to loud cheers, and everyone was up on their feet, dancing to the rhythm of the dhol drums. The venue looked amazing, with colorful lights, beautiful floral arrangements, and candles setting the mood. The couple shared their first dance, and you could feel the love in the air. Then, things got even more fun when a group of belly dancers took the stage, showing off some incredible moves that had everyone clapping and cheering. The rest of the night was filled with more dancing, heartfelt toasts, and an endless spread of delicious food—an unforgettable celebration of love, tradition, and pure joy.
Capping off the weekend was a grand exit, with family and friends lining up with sparklers that lit up the night. The couple walked through the sparkling tunnel, champagne in hand, smiles all around. They gave one more kiss to seal off the evening as they made their way to the getaway car, ready to kick off their new adventure together. Everyone cheered and waved them off, and there was just this perfect, happy energy in the air. It was the ideal way to end such an amazing weekend full of love and celebration.
