Laura & Marie - Mother’s Day Mini Photography Session in Southern California
Because Every Stage of Life Deserves a Mother’s Day Memory
One of the best parts of being a Southern California portrait photographer is getting to witness real and meaningful relationships through the lens. With Mother’s Day quickly approaching, I had the chance to photograph something that felt especially close to home.
I did a natural light portrait session with my awesome girlfriend and her incredible mom. There was no big setup or dramatic backdrop. Just soft, golden light, a quiet location in Southern California, and two people who clearly care about each other a lot.
More Than Just “Mom and Me” Photos
Most people picture Mother’s Day photo sessions as something you do when your kids are still little. And yes, those are always adorable. But this session reminded me how valuable it is to capture that connection when we’re adults, too.
There’s something really meaningful about photographing adult relationships. The kind that has grown over years of shared experiences, life changes, and unconditional support. The way these two laughed and looked at each other said everything. You could feel the closeness without needing to stage anything.
As a family photographer in Los Angeles, I always try to catch those natural, quiet moments. The ones that don’t feel posed. This shoot had a lot of those. Honest and full of heart.
So whether you're a new mom, a grown daughter, or somewhere in between, Mother’s Day is always a good excuse to pause and celebrate your bond. And it’s never too late to hop in front of the camera with someone you love.
Thinking About a Mother’s Day Portrait Session?
Each spring, I offer a handful of Mother’s Day photo sessions across Southern California. Whether it’s for a new mom, grown daughters, or even multi-generational families, these shoots are a great way to honor the relationships that mean the most.
Sessions are relaxed, easygoing, and focused on real connection. I work with families all across the area, from Santa Monica to Studio City, West Hollywood to the South Bay. These portraits also make great gifts for the moms in your life.
